Is a gait belt covered by Medicare or Medicaid?
Gait belts are generally covered by Medicaid and Managed Medicaid. Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Essential Plan policies do not typically cover gait belts. Note that coverage varies by state and clinical need, we'll confirm your coverage and eligibility before your order is finalized.
How is a gait belt used safely?
The belt fastens snugly around the waist over clothing, and the caregiver grips the belt—not the person's arms—during transfers. A clinician can review safe technique with your caregiver.
